The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has maintained its front seat over the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the West Bengal Assembly Election Results 2026. As of 4 pm, the figures are exceeding expectations set by exit polls. BJP is maintaining over 200 leads as it eyes a historic win.  It might be hailed as the first BJP government since Independence, as the Trinamool is staring at defeat after 15 years in power. For the unversed, this is the first election after a record deletion of voters under the Special Intensive Revision.

West Bengal Assembly Election Results 2026: BJP vs TMC

According to the State’s Chief Electoral Officer, this year, the State saw a turnout of 92.8 percent in the first phase on April 23, while the second phase recorded 91.47 percent polling on April 29. It is the highest turnout in the State since Independence. 

The West Bengal Assembly has 294 seats. To form the government, a majority of 148 seats is required. Any party or coalition of parties must attain the required number to win the election. According to analytics firm Pvalue, the BJP is leading in 212 seats, while the TMC is behind with just 63 leads. Undoubtedly, the BJP has made its presence felt in the state and its capital after years of struggle.
