‘Not Going Anywhere’: Nitish Kumar Pledges NDA Loyalty, Blames JDU Colleagues for Earlier Flip-Flops

Known for his political flip-flops, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday affirmed his commitment to the BJP-led NDA alliance, stating, “I am now back. And I will not go anywhere henceforth…”

While addressing a public gathering in Bihar’s Purnea, Nitish Kumar defended his past political flip-flops, blaming some of his party colleagues for forcing him to switch sides. He made the remark while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Purnea to launch and lay the foundation stones of projects worth ₹36,000 crore.

Pointing towards Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’, Nitish Kumar, whom he replaced as the party’s national president nearly two years ago, said, “The JDU-BJP combine formed a government in Bihar for the first time in November 2005. For one or two times, I went to the other side upon prodding from some of my own party colleagues, one of whom is sitting here.”

Additionally, Nitish referred to his brief partnerships with the RJD and Congress as a “mistake,” claiming that the two parties “always indulged in mischief when we shared power.”

The JDU supremo, as quoted by news agency PTI, said, “For one or two times, I went to the other side… But that is a thing of the past. I could never be comfortable with those people… I am now back. And I will not go anywhere henceforth.”

Nitish’s remarks, made ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, earned smiles and applause from PM Modi on stage.
