Mamata Banerjee Takes a Jab at Amit Shah Over ‘Terrorists Are in Bengal’ Remark
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while addressing a rally in Bengal, took a sharp dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labelling them as Dushasana and Duryodhana.
Her remarks came after Amit Shah alleged that terror networks were operating in the poll-bound state. Addressing a rally at Birsinghpur in Bengal’s Bankura district, the Trinamool Congress supremo questioned the Centre’s claims and even raised doubts over recent terror incidents.
Mamata Banerjee said, “Dushasana, a disciple of Shakuni, has come to Bengal to gather information. As soon as elections approach, Dushasana and Duryodhana start appearing.”
Reacting strongly to the Home Minister’s assertion that West Bengal had become a hub for terrorists, Mamata shot back, “If there are no terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, how did the Pahalgam attack happen? Did the Centre attack Pahalgam? Who was behind the incident that occurred in Delhi?”
The Pahalgam attack on April 22, carried out by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, left 26 tourists dead. In November, a “white-collar terror module” allegedly funded by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad detonated a car near the iconic Red Fort in Delhi, killing 15 people.
Earlier in the day, Amit Shah, addressing a press conference, said the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections would be fought on the issue of infiltration. He also accused the Mamata Banerjee-led government of not allotting land for the construction of a border fence along the Bangladesh border.
Rejecting these allegations, a fiery Mamata Banerjee hit back, saying, “All railway projects were executed because the state provided land. Land has already been allotted along the borders at Petrapole and Changrabandha.”
