Meanwhile, early trends show a tight contest between Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party, with both sides trading allegations as counting continues under heavy security.

Trends from 226 of 294 seats show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking a commanding lead in 157 seats, comfortably crossing the majority mark of 148 required to form the government.
The ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is currently ahead in 67 seats, trailing significantly behind the BJP in the race for power.
Meanwhile, other parties, including the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and the Indian National Congress, are yet to open their account. Candidates from smaller parties and independents are leading in 2 seats.
