On Friday, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) decimated the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar to retain power and bagged 202 seats in the 243-member Assembly.
In the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a thumping majority. The NDA managed to bag 202 seats in the 243-member Assembly. The Election Commission last night declared the results for all the 243 constituencies. In the state of Bihar, a party or an alliance needs 122 seats to form the government.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won 89 seats, emerging as the largest party. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) won 85 seats, and Union Minister Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) bagged 19 seats.
Here’s how each party performed in terms of vote share:
- Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) – Led by Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD secured the highest vote share at 23% and won 25 seats.
- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – The BJP followed with a 20.8% vote share, placing it second.
- Janata Dal (United) – JDU obtained 19.25% of the votes, making it the third-highest in terms of vote share.
- Indian National Congress – Congress received 8.71% of the total votes (around 43 lakh) and won 6 seats.
- Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) – LJP, led by Chirag Paswan, secured 4.97% of the vote share.
- CPI (ML)L – The party received 2.84 per cent of the vote share in the Bihar elections.
- AIMIM – Led by Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM secured 5 seats.
- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) – The BSP won 1 seat.
