The most awaited monsoon has arrived in South Konkan, as per the latest reports. It was said that the super El Nino would impact the monsoon and it would be delayed. Amid such discussions, the monsoon is likely to be delayed and the widespread rainfall in Maharashtra would arrive by June 15, as the reports say.
According to a warning from officials, farmers shouldn’t rush their sowing operations since Maharashtra is unlikely to witness enough monsoon rainfall before June 15. Weather predictions, according to officials on Sunday, point to slow monsoon progression and low rainfall across the state.
According to the reports, despite sporadic downpours and lightning, the progress of the monsoon and the intensity of rainfall are predicted to be muted in most parts of Maharashtra over the next week, according to an estimate published by the State Agriculture and Disaster Management Department.
Weather Conditions in other areas do not indicate the beginning of sufficient rain needed for large scale agricultural operations, even though moderate to heavy rain is predicted for portions of the Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts through June 9. Although the monsoon has entered Konkan, according to the officials, it has not yet become active throughout the area and its progress into Maharashtra’s interior regions is anticipated to be gradual.
Even though the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that conditions would continue to be favorable for the further advancement of the southwest monsoon into Maharashtra within the next three to four days, Mumbai and nearby suburbs are expected to experience partially cloudy skies, light rain and thunderstorms over the next two days.
