Amid the ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has granted Y+ category security to Tej Pratap Yadav, founder of the Janshakti Janata Dal and elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. This decision comes after an internal report was submitted by security agencies citing threats to Tej Pratap Yadav. The move follows Tej’s own written request to the ministry, in which he expressed concerns about his safety during the Bihar Assembly election period.

Under Y+ Security Cover: How Many Personnel Will He Get?

Under the Y+ category, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader will get a total of 11 security personnel, with armed commandos assigned to close protection. Five of them will be stationed at his residence, while the rest will operate in rotating shifts to ensure 24-hour security coverage. The upgraded security protocol aims to ensure Tej Pratap’s safety during public engagements and election rallies.

After making a controversial social media post about his relationship with a woman, Tej Pratap was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for six years by his father and RJD supremo, Lalu Prasad. Following his expulsion from the RJD, he launched his own party, the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD). Tej Pratap himself is contesting from the Mahua constituency, while his party has fielded more than 40 candidates in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections. He has been proactively holding several campaign rallies across the state.

The Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive will come into force immediately, and CRPF units have been briefed to oversee the additional deployment.
