Swachh Survekshan 2025 Out: Top 10 Dirtiest Cities in India; Mumbai Ranks at?
                                    Many cities in India are still facing poor waste management, drainage system, hygiene or sanitation, declaring them as the dirtiest cities. Now a new survey has been released incorporating the top 10 dirtiest cities in India. Over the past years, many cities in the country are facing overpopulation and littering problems.
In such a scenario, major sticks regarding cleanliness and hygiene must take place and citizens should also follow directions, but unfortunately, we see people are littering on roads and keeping the toilets unclean, which can lead to serious health problems. Water pollution is also a huge problem, whereas the garbage overflowing, blocked sewers are also leading to making a city vulnerable and dirty.
Recently, Swachh Survekshan 2025 declared that the top 10 cities are facing serious problems. According to the Survey, Madurai topped the list and ranked at number 40, followed by Ludhiana, Chennai, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Dhanbad, Faridabad, Mumbai and Delhi.
Where did Mumbai rank?
The survey has declared the cleanest and dirtiest cities. As per the survey, the dirtiest cities are the bottom spot and Mumbai is among them, ranking in 33rd position among the dirtiest cities with a population of over one million.
Which are the Cleanest Cities?
The research found that Ahmedabad, Gujarat, was the cleanest city, followed by Bhopal, Lucknow, Raipur, and Jabalpur, which came in the top five. Other cities among the top are Greater Hyderbad, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, GVMC Vishakhapatnam, and Agra.
Parameters of the Ranking
By the Swachh Survekshan 2024–2025 findings, the rankings were determined through comprehensive parameters including visible cleanliness, sanitation, solid waste management, used water management, and mechanization of deluging services. Assessments covered residential and commercial areas, public spaces, schools, slums, water bodies, and also tourist locations as the data collection. Many cities are facing serious issues which could make the problems ever more deteriorating.
