US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the India-US trade deal will soon get finalized. India and the US pushed to increase their collaboration in the areas of energy and defense on Tuesday as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged New Delhi to increase energy trade and purchase more US equipment and technology.

According to PTI, despite the unpredictability of Washington’s trade policies and tighter immigration laws, which have put a strain on bilateral relations, S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs hosted Rubio for extensive negotiations shortly after the diplomat’s second trip to India in under five months.

Marco Rubio had a meeting with Minister S. Jaishankar. S. Jaishankar posted glimpses of the meeting on his official X account. “We shared views on further advancement of our ties, focusing on trade, energy, technology, defence and people to people ties. Also exchanged views on regional developments,” he wrote.

Rubio informed the media that the trade agreement between India and the United States was nearing completion before his meeting with Jaishankar. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio landed in Jamnagar, Gujarat on Wednesday to visit the Reliance Industries Ltd oil refinery complex.
