Citizens of Mumbai are on a new mission to give a creative twist to fight “Plastic Pollution” and that is through giving a new life to plastic wastes. The name of this citizen-led creative mission is The Mumbai Plastic Recyclothon (TMPR). Under this mission, L& T, in association with “ The Project Mumbai” is turning plastic wastes into products like benches, tiles, school desks, bins and pathways across the city.
This amazing environment protection idea, catching the gaze of every visitor who’s crossing the BKC area. This idea knocked the minds of volunteers when they were cleaning the beaches and saw the alarming magnitude of plastic wastes near beaches. Since 2020 they have given life not just to plastic wastes but to the environment also. They have converted around 500 tonnes of plastic waste into useful attractive commodities.
The dedicated teams of L&T and Project Mumbai are now encouraging more citizens to join this transformative journey. With collective effort, Mumbai can set a global example of how communities can tackle plastic pollution by turning toxic waste into practical, eco-friendly resources—shaping a cleaner and greener future for generations to come.
