At Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt in Partagali in South Goa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, unveiled Lord Ram statue. It is a bronze sculpture of Lord Ram that stands 77 feet tall. The figure of Shree Ram was created by the sculptor Ram Sutar, who also designed the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. After speaking at the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana event at the Sri Krishna Matha, the PM conducted a roadshow in Udupi, Karnataka, earlier today.

During events in South Goa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a commemorative coin and a special postal stamp commemorating the 550th anniversary of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt.

During his visit to Udupi, the Prime Minister dedicated the Kanaka Kavacha (golden cover) for Kanakana Kindi, a holy window through which it is said that the saint Kanakadasa had the divine darshan of Lord Krishna and opened the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa, which is located in front of the Krishna sanctuary.

In his speech at the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi lauded the BJP’s predecessor, Jan Sangh’s, excellent governance model in Udupi after reciting shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita with one lakh worshippers at the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana event at Sri Krishna Matha.

“I find coming to Udupi to be really special. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s paradigm of good governance has its roots in the Jana Sangh’s karmabhoomi, Udupi. The citizens of Udupi elected VS Acharya of the Jana Sangh to the Udupi Municipal Corporation in 1968. With this, Udupi established the groundwork for a novel system of government. Five decades ago, Udupi embraced the cleanliness campaign that we are seeing now. In the 1970s, Udupi began to create a model for water supply and drainage systems,” PM Modi said in his speech.
