PM Modi to Inaugurate India’s First Nature-Themed Airport Terminal in Guwahati on December 20, Shared Glimpses
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on his Assam visit. During the visit, he will be inaugurating India’s first nature-themed airport terminal in Guwahati, on Saturday, December 20. He will also lay the cornerstone for a number of initiatives and speak at public forums throughout his two day trip to Assam, according to the PTI. The airport nearly costs Rs. 4,000 crore.
Prior to the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Modi released the first glimpses of the new terminal structure at Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. He will honor the martyrs of the Assam movement, a six year long violent anti-foreigner protest that started in 1979, as per the PTI.
“I will reach Guwahati, Assam tomorrow, 20th December. In the afternoon, the new terminal building of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport will be inaugurated. This is a major boost to Assam’s infrastructure. Increased capacity means better ‘Ease of Living’ and a boost for commerce as well as tourism,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

According to the itinerary, PM Modi is scheduled to arrive at Guwahati airport at around 2.30 pm, where he will then unveil an 80 foot statue of Assam’s first chief minister, Gopinath Bordoloi, outside the new terminal named after him.
PM Modi will start his two day Assam trip by unveiling an 80 foot tall statue of Assam’s first Chief Minister, Gopinath Bordoloi. PM Modi will participate in a road show that will end at the BJP headquarters in the Bashista district, where he will engage with party members.
