PAN Application Rules ‘Tighten’ From April 1, 2026: Last Date To Apply Using Aadhaar Closing Soon
Since April 1st marks the beginning of the financial year, we must pay attention to any upcoming reforms. The regulations governing PAN cards will be stricter starting on April 1st.
From April 1, 2026, the government has declared a change in the regulations governing PAN applications. According to the updated regulations, applications for PAN cards will no longer be accepted if they are based only on Aadhaar.
Consequently, the government has urged citizens to submit a PAN application using only their Aadhaar card through March 31. Following the implementation of the new regulations, citizens will have a harder time obtaining a PAN card because the application procedure will be subject to greater scrutiny.

The name on the PAN card will only be as per the Aadhaar card starting on April 1. The old forms will no longer be accepted when the new regulations take effect, according to the CSC as well.
Applicants will need fresh PAN forms to obtain the ID card after the regulations change on April 1. This will necessitate more evidence of birth, in addition to the Aadhaar card.
