Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Bihar CM for 10th Time; Here’s the Full List of Ministers

Just days after steering the NDA to a landslide win in the Bihar Assembly elections, Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar took oath as the Bihar Chief Minister for a record 10th time on Thursday (November 20) in Patna.

The ceremony took place at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan. In attendance were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, Chirag Paswan, and other senior NDA leaders. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy.

In addition to Kumar, 26 NDA legislators took oath as ministers, 14 from the Bharatiya Janata Party, 8 from the Janata Dal (United), 2 from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and one each from the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

Chief Ministers from various NDA-ruled states, including Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), Nayab Singh Saini (Haryana), Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam), Neiphiu Rio (Nagaland), and N. Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh), were also present at the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nitish Kumar on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Heartiest congratulations to Shri Nitish Kumar Ji on taking the oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar. He is a skilled and experienced administrator. He has a splendid track record of good governance in the state. My heartfelt best wishes to him for the new term!”

In another X post, PM Modi congratulated the new Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha, highlighting their extensive grassroots work and commitment to public service:

“Heartiest congratulations to Shri Samrat Chaudhary Ji and Shri Vijay Sinha Ji on becoming the Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar. Both leaders have extensive experience in public service at the grassroots level. I extend my very best wishes to them as well!”
