NHRC Sends Notice to MeitY Regarding Concerns Over Gleeden Extramarital Dating App
The discreet extramarital dating app, Gleeden, saw a massive surge in registration and more than 4 million users were active in India, sparked debate and has now resulted in legitimate action by the NHRC. Over the rising concerns about the boom, the action has taken place, as per the reports.
Priyak Kanoongo, a member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), stated on Friday that the NHRC has taken cognizance of a complaint against Gleeden, a social networking site that promotes extramarital affairs and has sent a notice to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) requesting a report on the issue.
Priyank Kanoongo, a member of the NHRC, stated in an X post that the Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation, a non profit organization that works to safeguard marginalized communities from exploitation, submitted the complaint.

The NHRC notice, dated April 9, states that the bench presided over by Kanoongo has cognized under section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 and instructed the Registry to send a notice to the Secretary, MeitY, requesting an inquiry into the claims and the submission of an Action Taken Report within two weeks for review by the Commission.
