Mumbai Tops List as the Happiest City in Asia 2025, Here Are the Other Top 9 Cities

Mumbai is truly the city of dreams, and now, the city of happy people. Despite the high rent, endless job hunting, floods, traffic, soaring living costs, and non-stop pace, it ranks first on Time Out’s City Life Index 2025. India’s financial capital has seized the rank one, leaving behind popular Asian cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Chiang Mai, and Hanoi. Globally, Mumbai sits in the fifth position.

Time Out’s City Life Index 2025 approached residents and asked them to rate their city or hometown’s culture, nightlife, food, and quality of life. Additionally, it also questioned them whether their city makes them happy. Surprisingly, 94 percent of the locals responded positively, saying that Mumbai truly makes them feel satisfied and content.

According to reports, over 18,000 citizens across Asia were asked how happy they feel in their cities. The survey included a couple of factors, including affordability, quality of life, food, and culture. On the other hand, 87 percent of respondents believed that happiness in the city has boomed over the past few years. 88 percent of them seemed positive, while 89 percent revealed that they were happier in Mumbai than elsewhere. Undoubtedly, Mumbai’s spirit and warmth magnetize people all over the world.
