Mumbai Metro Update: Partial Operations for Lines 2B and 9 Starts by April 3
Mumbai Metro is now expanding connectivity. As per the recent reports, Mumbai Metro’s lines 2B and 9 start this Friday, which is April 3. It will start with partial operations.
Line 2B will initially connect Andheri West, Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Kurla and Chembur with the eastern suburbs, serving the five stations between DN Nagar in western Mumbai and Mandale (Mankhurd), which are Diamond Garden, Shivaji Chowk, BSNL Metro, Mankhurd and Mandale.
Meanwhile, the first leg of Line 9 will connect Dahisar and Mira Road, a distance of 4.5 kilometers, with stops at Dahisar, Pandurang Wadi, Mira Gaon and Kashigaon, all of which are significant transit hubs in the north.
Following the completion of safety clearances and trial runs, the first operating section of Line 2B, which is a component of the larger Yellow Line corridor, will be open to the public, according to authorities. When finished, the 23.6 km elevated corridor will have 20 stations, improving connectivity between heavily populated districts. In a similar way, Phase I of Line 9, a western suburban extension, will enhance transportation options for people living in the fast developing Mira-Bhayandar region.
It is expected that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) project would significantly improve commuters’ daily commute throughout the eastern and northern areas of Greater Mumbai.
