Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 is running the full route from Aarey to Cuffe Parade. However, commuters have been complaining about poor mobile network connectivity and the hassle of booking an online ticket. Though the underground metro services promise free WiFi, there is a technical glitch. Surprisingly, Mumbaikars call the lack of signal ‘digital detox on wheels’. This approach reflects the spirit of residents who view their experiences while traveling. A few commuters express their rage, whereas on the other hand, netizens are happy to notice that no uncles are swiping their reels on full volume.
Amidst the everyday hustle and bustle, the absence of a network has helped them unwind, enjoy their journeys, engage in conversations, or simply get back to their hobbies. Commuters stated that if the free WiFi service doesn’t ensure smooth streaming, they are pleased to get back to reading an actual book/magazine or sketching. Psychologists and experts agree that the network issue might actually benefit the mental health of people who are glued to the screens.
Some call it a new way to defend incompetence, while others throw light on the fact that they do need connectivity during emergencies. Despite the mental health benefits and digital detox, the Aqua Line’s network gaps might actually be an inconvenience. Thus, Metro officials said that they are working closely with telecom companies to improve coverage soon.
