For several days, Mumbai waited for its first pre-monsoon showers. On Sunday morning, the city was drenched by heavy rains and residents got quite a respite from the scorching heat. Now, IMD has issued a yellow alert in many regions of Maharashtra including Mumbai, as per the reports.
From 6 to 9 on Sunday, showers hit the city. According to municipal statistics, the city received an average precipitation of 0.61 mm, with the western and eastern suburbs receiving 2 mm and 5 mm, respectively.
According to the IMD, scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected in Mumbai on June 3 and intermittent rain activity will persist. In addition, between June 1 and 4, Mumbai is expected to have lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds in isolated areas, according to the forecasts. Up until June 2, isolated spots will experience winds of 30 to 40 kmph. As mentioned earlier, these meteorological conditions will last until June 4.

The IMD Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai of IMD released its most recent district forecast, stating that all predictions for significant pre-monsoon weather activity between June 1 and June 4 will be very likely.
