‘Masood Azhar’s family was torn into pieces’: Jaish Leader Confirms Op Sindoor Impact
Months after India carried out strikes under Operation Sindoor on terror establishments in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander has admitted that the family of Masood Azhar, the group’s top commander, was “torn into pieces” in the attacks on Bahawalpur.
In the viral video of JeM commander Masood Ilyas Kashmiri circulating on social media, he can be heard explaining how the Indian armed forces raided their hideout and carried out the attack.
In the video, Kashmiri says, “Embracing terrorism, we fought Delhi, Kabul and Kandahar for protecting the borders of this country. After sacrificing everything, on May 7 in Bahawalpur, Maulana Masood Azhar’s family was torn into pieces by Indian forces.”
The video also shows Kashmiri surrounded by several gun-wielding security personnel.
Who is Masood Azhar?
Masood Azhar remains one of India’s most-wanted terrorists, accused of involvement in multiple significant attacks, such as the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack, and the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing.
The United Nations declared Masood Azhar a global terrorist in 2019.
In 1999, Azhar was released after the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC-814, which was diverted to Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Along with Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed, India has long demanded Azhar’s extradition. Despite mounting evidence, Pakistan has repeatedly denied his presence or freedom.
