The Mumbai to Navi Mumbai Aiprort metro receives the go-ahead from the Maharashtra Cabinet. This will improve connectivity and make it simpler for travellers to reach either airport. Know the route and stations here.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Tuesday that the cabinet committee on infrastructure has approved the project, which is predicted to cost Rs. 22,862 crore and needs the acquisition of 30.7 hectares of land, also reported by ANI. It connects the airports of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai via a 35 km metro line.
The initial portion will be an underground tunnel connecting Ghatkopar East to Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai. The remaining 24.64 km will be elevated, while this 9.25 km section will have six stations (Underground). Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) on the Central Railway and three additional metro lines will connect to Line 8, according to the reports.

The corridor, also known as Metro Line 8, will have 14 tall stations and six subterranean stations, a total of 20 stations. The corridor’s elevated segment will run from Ghatkopar West to Terminal 2 of the Navi Mumbai Airport, while its subterranean section will connect Ghatkopar East with Mumbai Airport’s Terminal 2, as stated above.
The average distance between stations on the line will be less than 2 kilometers. Kurla, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai Airport Terminal 2, Vashi, Nerul, Seawoods and both terminals of the Navi Mumbai Airport are among the important stations.
