Lunch, Dinner or Breakfast? IRCTC Unveils the Most Sought-After Meals in Trains
Everybody enjoys the train journey and, of course, the food too. With its e-Pantry service, IRCTC allows travellers on long distance trains without pantry cars to order meals in advance online, guaranteeing that the food will be delivered directly to their seat.
Premium trains such as the Vande Bharat, Rajdhani and Shatabdi do not have pantry cars, but meals can be reserved with tickets. Meals are sent immediately from IRCTC base kitchens. According to media sources, certain trains still include pantry cars where passengers may order meals while traveling.
At the same time, IRCTC has revealed the most popular meals offered on trains. Data from IRCTC indicates that, according to the TOI report, over 65,000 meals have already been ordered through the service.
There were over 17,000 reservations for dinner and breakfast. Over 8,000 reservations were made for morning and evening tea. The most ordered meal, with over 15,000 orders, was lunch.
Passengers on the Nizamuddin-Bengaluru Sampark Kranti Express like the food quality, which has resulted in the most meal orders, around 8,300. With 16,500 reservations, December 2025 had the most bookings overall, as per the reports.
