India’s GST Collection in the Month of August Jumps 14.8 Percent to Nearly Rs 2 Lakh Crore

Provisional government statistics for the month show that India’s Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue increased to Rs. 1,99,853 crore in August 2026, a 14.8 percent year on year increase from Rs. 1,74,116 crore in August 2025.

The month’s total net GST revenue was Rs. 1,68,057 crore, an 8.3 percent increase over August 2025 (Rs. 1,55,181 crore). Net GST revenue is 9 percent higher than the previous year, at Rs. 8,89,523 crore compared to Rs. 8,15,939 crore. Similarly, India’s gross domestic income increased by 9.3 percent to Rs 1,37,249 crore in August 2026 from Rs. 1,25,570 crore in August 2025.

Rs. 52,520 crore was the IGST, Rs. 46, 316 crore was the State GST and Rs. 38,413 crore was the Central Goods and Services Tax Collection. The total gross GST income for August was Rs. 1,99,853 crore, compared to Rs. 1,74,116 crore the prior year. Gross revenue has increased by 11 percent to Rs. 10,42,757 crore on a cumulative annual basis.

According to an office memorandum released by the GST Council Secretariat, the 57th meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council will take place on September 12, 2026, in New Delhi. On Saturday, September 12, the meeting will start at 11:00 am. In New Delhi, the Council meeting on September 11 will be preceded by an Officers’ Meeting at 11:00 am, reports ANI.
