India successfully conducted a flight test of an advanced Agni missile with multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRV) off the coast of Odisha, as per the reports. From Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha, on Friday, the Agni missile with the MIRV system underwent a successful flight test on 8th May 2026, as posted by the DRDO in X post.

According to a statement from the Defense Ministry on social media, the missile was flight tested with multiple payloads, targeting a geographically dispersed array of targets in the Indian Ocean Region.

A single missile is able to unleash many warheads at various targets thanks to the MIRV capability. The defense ministry said that the missile system was tested on Friday, reported by PTI.

India has once again shown its capacity to strike several strategic objectives with a single missile system thanks to this successful experiment, the ministry stated. The DRDO labs created this missile with the assistance of businesses all around the nation.
