For a month, extreme heatwaves continued to trigger the citizens. Now, after heavy rain and thunderstorms, Delhi-NCR and nearby regions have experienced some respite and coolness in the climate, bringing some comfort from the soaring heat. The area’s temperature has also had quite a drop after experiencing massive temperature rises above 46 degrees Celsius.

As intense rains and thunderstorms put an end to the intense heatwave that had been tormenting the National Capital Region for the last few days, Delhi and its neighboring regions let out a sigh of relief on Thursday evening. Following the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) orange alert, which forecast moderate to heavy rains, thunderstorms and high winds, the weather took an abrupt turn, according to the reports.

Air travel has also been impacted by this downpour. Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and other neighboring areas were impacted by heavy rain, lightning and strong winds, which caused a sharp drop in temperatures and gave locals a much needed break from the oppressive heat, as highlighted by the reports.

According to prior weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Delhi-NCR, there will be isolated hail, lightning and powerful thunderstorms in several places throughout the region.
