FSSAI intervened after a video showed that utensils were washed and kept in the train’s toilet. According to the reports, the FSSAI has issued a formal notice to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in response to a viral video that purportedly depicts catering personnel cleaning utensils within a train toilet.

A viral video allegedly showed catering personnel washing utensils inside a train restroom on the Mumbai-Ernakulam Duronto Express. The video shows an IRCTC employee inside the train’s bathroom, with utensils arranged in a basket on top of a shut seat.

According to the FSSAI, the event directly violated the hygiene and sanitary standards outlined in Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011, reported by ANI.

This is in violation of the hygiene and sanitary standards outlined in Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011, which require food business operators to uphold hygienic processing, handling, washing and cleaning procedures in order to avoid contamination of food and food contact surfaces, according to the FSSAI warning.

The integrity of catering services offered to train passengers is undermined by such activities, according to the FSSAI, who also stressed that they constitute a considerable threat to public health.
