IndiGo is the well known and most liked airline by many passengers in India. After the fiasco, IndiGo’s former CEO Pieter Elbers resigned from his position and now, British Airways’ former chief, William Walsh, is to take the lead as CEO, according to the reports. IndiGo, with 434 planes in its fleet, concluded the prior fiscal year by serving 91 domestic and 40 foreign locations.

In a statement, chairman Vikram Singh Mehta said, ”Walsh’s expertise in managing large scale airline operations and navigating complicated market dynamics makes him ideally suited to lead and strengthen IndiGo.”, according to media reports.

William Walsh’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Board of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) is contingent upon regulatory clearances, according to today’s announcement. According to an IndiGo statement, Mr. Walsh is anticipated to join the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on or before July 31, 2026, when his tenure there will end.

In 2024-25, IndiGo, which accounts for 65% of the market, recorded total revenue of Rs. 84,098.20 crore and a net profit of Rs. 7,258 crore, as reported by Mint.
