Education Ministry Launches 6 Month Certificate Course For B.Ed Qualified Primary Teachers

The Education Ministry has taken an important initiative by launching a 6 month certificate course for B. Ed qualified primary teachers. Let’s understand the course framework and about the initiative.

The Union Minister of Education, Pralhad Joshi, launched a six month certificate (Bridge) course offered by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in Primary Teacher Education (PTE) for in service elementary teachers holding a B.Ed. Official information states that the course will concentrate on the professional growth of employed primary teachers who possess a B.Ed degree in order to qualify for primary level instruction.

Today, launched the Six-Month Certificate (Bridge) Course in Primary Teacher Education for eligible in-service Primary Teachers appointed with B.Ed. qualification. Designed as per the @ncte framework, the course will strengthen teachers’ primary-stage pedagogical competencies through academic learning, online contact classes and 20 days of school-based experience. According to the official document, the course is thoughtfully designed to enhance teachers’ pedagogical skills and classroom effectiveness, allowing them to meet the varied learning requirements of young children. Teachers will learn how children learn, understand the epistemological underpinnings of subject knowledge and use responsive teaching tactics that encourage the growth of every child through the program.

The PTE bridge program will be taught using an ODL (Open and Distance Learning) method. The instructional methods will include school based practicums (practice teaching, reflective journals, portfolios) and contact programs. Flexible and effective learning will be supported through the use of digital platforms, e-learning materials and video tutorials.
