DRDO and IAF Successfully Flight Tests Indigenous RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile
The DRDO and IAF have successfully flight tested the indigenous RudraM-II air-to-surface missile. According to the reports, from a SU-30 MKI fighter jet, the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully performed flight tests of the RudraM-II air-to-surface missile on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Defense claims that the missile was launched, then successfully guided itself to a predetermined target, hitting it with perfect accuracy. Flight data acquired via several range instruments placed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha, validated that all trial goals were met.
The indigenously designed, solid-propellant, air-launched missile RudraM-II is intended for air-to-surface missions. Incorporating several advanced indigenous technologies developed by different DRDO laboratories, the weapon is designed to neutralise a variety of enemy assets.
The MoD statement continued by saying that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the efforts of DRDO, the IAF, defense public sector undertakings, industry partners and other stakeholders engaged in the project.
With a miss distance of only five meters, the missile hit the target and reached its intended range. During the final phase of flight, the test effectively showed that the warhead of the missile worked.
