Delhi witnessed its first rain. AQI has slightly improved. The temperature has also dropped slightly with the cold wave brought back and also in the north there was heavy snowfall too.
After a prolonged period of dry winter weather, Delhi finally saw its first rainfall of the year on Friday, following morning showers in various parts of the city. The city’s severe pollution levels were momentarily relieved by a storm that brought rain and strong winds. This year’s first significant western disturbance, according to the weather bureau, is what caused the weather shift, reported by PTI.
The IMD predicted that Delhi would experience one or two rainy spells in the morning and forenoon hours, with another spell of very light rain in the afternoon and evening.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that Delhi will experience moderate fog in the morning, a generally overcast sky and high surface winds of 10-20 kmph today (24th Jan). Over the next three days, minimum temperatures are forecast to drop by 5 to 6 degrees Celsius and on January 24, temperatures will still be noticeably below average.
Over the western Himalayan area and neighboring plains, a western disturbance has caused widespread rain and snowfall, resulting in a significant temperature drop, dense fog and new cold wave conditions.
