Cyclone Arnab has made complete landfall on the Andhra coast. The severe storm has brought heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The full process lasted more than six hours after strong cyclone Arnab hit near the Andhra Pradesh coast early on Wednesday.

According to a bulletin issued at 9:50 am by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Arnab, which made landfall as a very severe cyclonic storm, the third highest category on IMD’s scale, is now over the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts. The cyclone was located around 20 kilometres east of Naraspur, 40 kilometres south-southwest of Yanam, 60 kilometers south-southwest of Kakinada and 90 kilometres east-northeast of Machilipatnam.

The storm caused several trees to fall and power lines to break at several places in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, when it landed on the Andhra shore early Wednesday morning. Traffic was disrupted on Beach Road and in Seethammadhara in Visakhapatnam after high winds and heavy rains pulled down trees.

Due to the severe weather, several flights have been cancelled as heavy rain and strong winds continue to pummelled Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
