Chef Vikas Khanna Asks Mumbai Airport to Remove Terminal Carpet, Says, “Asthma Patients…”
Famous chef Vikas Khanna shared an Instagram post, where he has requested Mumbai Airport to remove the terminal carpet. He has addressed an issue. He was concerned regarding the cleanliness of those carpets and asked that the government replace them.
Vikas posted a picture from the Mumbai airport that caught his eye during the promotions for MasterChef India as he was traveling between New York and Mumbai. He characterized the terminal’s worn-out carpet, which was seen in the picture, as a possible health risk. Given the high traffic volume the airport sees daily, he noted that such circumstances might have an impact on tourists.
“Although I love & respect the efficiency of Mumbai airport a lot,” Vikas wrote when sharing the image. “But having this carpet is really unnecessary and unacceptable. It is impossible to clean at this point. On behalf of all those who suffer from asthma and bronchitis, I urge the government to consider removing this from airports. It has the potential to cause significant respiratory problems and even be fatal,” he said.

In response to Chef Vikas’ complaint, the authorities at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport wrote in the comment section, “Dear Mr. Khanna, thank you for your kind words regarding the efficiency of the airport. We are genuinely grateful for your gratitude. In the meantime, we have paid close attention to your concerns about the carpet’s condition. Please be confident that the appropriate teams have been informed of this and that passenger health and comfort will be given first priority as we implement the necessary corrective actions, such as comprehensive cleaning and other required measures. Team CSMIA.”
