The BMC Elections 2026 are less than 10 days away. The city of Mumbai is bracing itself for the crucial political event that’s happening on January 15. The municipal elections are taking place after 9 years, and officials are striving to ensure a smooth outcome. During the election days, the Mumbai Police will remain vigilant and enforce specific traffic restrictions in the western suburbs.
BMC Elections 2026: Traffic Restrictions in Borivali and Andheri
The Mumbai Traffic Police said that in Borivali East, Appasahed Sidhaye Marg, from Shrikrishna Nagar Bridge to Abhinav Nagar Gate No. 5, there will be a ‘No Parking’ zone. These restrictions will be implemented from January 13, 2026, at 7 am to January 16 at midnight. Only vehicles involved in election duties will be allowed to enter on January 16th. The alternative that the cops have shared is that motorists can access Abhinav Nagar Roads 1, 3, 4, 5, and 5.
In Andheri West, there will be restrictions near J.P. Road. The authorities will close the roads from Veera Desai Road at JP Road Junction to Mogra Nala from January 14, 7 am, to January 16, 10 pm. The alternatives shared are Courtyard Junction, Chitrakoot Junction, and New Link Road. The BMC elections will also impose restrictions in Dahisar on January 14, 15, and 16. As per the Mumbai Traffic Police, the vehicle movement will be temporarily shut near the Rustomjee Cambridge International School and Jaywant Sawant Marg for the distribution of EVMs.
As alternative routes, the cops have mentioned these: Mumbaikars can take Rokadiya Lane through the Gokul Hotel intersection to get from Borivali to Dahisar. People can travel via Deepa Hotel Junction along the riverbank road to move from Dahisar to Borivali.
C.D. Barfiwala Road (Northbound Carriageway)
In the Western Suburbs, there will also be some temporary traffic restrictions through the northbound carriageway of C.D. Barfiwala Road, between Tipu Sultan Junction and Gulmohar Junction. Heavy machinery and excavation work for the flyover pillar construction will temporarily close the road. People in the area can instead take a left turn at Tipu Sultan Junction and head to Juhu Lane, Juned Nahar and Gulmohar Junction before proceeding to JVPD. These restrictions will be imposed until the pillar work is finished.
