On Saturday, a massive dust cloud engulfed parts of Rajasthan, causing close to darkness in the cities. Life was brought to a standstill by the storm. Shopkeepers closed their stores quickly and pedestrians hurried to get out of the storm’s path.
Online videos showed the stunning and nearly apocalyptic scenes of a massive wall of yellow dust moving towards the cities. The videos show an enormous cloud quickly covering the entire city in dust. During bad weather, the Meteorological Department has advised people to be careful and avoid unnecessary travel.
The city was covered in an eerie yellow brown glow and a thick haze, which dramatically decreased clarity on the main highways. This caused many people to seek shelter indoors and made driving dangerous.
As the winds grew stronger, several areas experienced panic. Saturday saw a prediction of strong thunderstorms and squalls by the Jaipur Meteorological Center for parts of the Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Kota, Jodhpur and Udaipur divisions. The wind speeds will reach 60-70 kilometers per hour, according to the reports.
