The good news of Tom Cruise’s comeback came this week at the studio’s showcase at CinemaCon. It is an annual week-long summit at which Hollywood studios present their biggest upcoming movies to theatre owners and the press. Paramount film co-head Josh Greenstein said Top Gun 3 was “officially in development with a script well underway”, adding that Cruise would reunite with producer Jerry Bruckheimer on the project. The 63-year-old actor will headline the third film in the action drama series, with no other returning cast members confirmed.
To refresh your memory, the 2022 film Top Gun earned six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Cruise was last seen in the final Mission: Impossible film and will next topline Digger, the much-anticipated new film from Oscar-winning Alejandro G Iñárritu.
