Ektaa Kapoor has spilled the beans after 15 years, announcing a sequel to 2011’s “The Dirty Picture.” While in conversation with content creator and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, Ektaa revealed that she has found a story. After years of thinking about the sequel, she has locked in a story which she wants to share with audiences. Here’s what she said.

The Dirty Picture 2 Announced by Ektaa Kapoor After 15 Years

Speaking to Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, Ektaa discussed plans to make a sequel. She explained how her perspective has evolved over the years. She further added, “One very big film I’m making is The Dirty Picture 2. I’m planning it after 15 years. This time, I believe there is a story I want to tell. The Dirty Picture was about Silk Smitha. It was about a woman who was condemned for standing up against her sexuality. Ab sexuality is about your choice. Maine kabhi usse victim ki tarah nahi dekha. I saw her as someone who celebrated her sexuality, and the film did so well.”

For the unversed, “The Dirty Picture” featured Vidya Balan in the lead role, alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor. It was released in December 2011, and it turned out to be a box office hit. The film chronicled the journey of Silk Smitha, a South Indian actress who rose to fame through her screen presence and work in the film industry. Talking about her perspective on “The Dirty Picture,” Ektaa Kapoor said she never viewed its central character simply as a victim. Instead, she perceived her as a woman who embraced her sexuality despite the judgement she faced.

Ektaa Kapoor has not yet announced the cast, director, or release date, leaving the film’s central subject and other aspects of the production under wraps.
