Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan Locks Release Date After Delays, To Hit Theatres on THIS Date in July
After months of delays, legal matters, online leaks, and certification issues, Thalapathy Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan, finally locks a release date. Scheduled to hit the theatres on July 23, fans are overjoyed to witness the actor-turned-politician’s last film on the silver screens. Today, KVN Productions took to their official social media handles to announce the film’s release date. The film is all set to premiere after over six months of delay. Initially, the Tamil-language drama was expected to arrive in cinemas on January 9, 2026. However, the premiere was derailed by a protracted dispute with India’s Central Board of Film Certification and a piracy breach.
Helmed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions’ Venkat K. Narayana, the film has received an ‘A’ certificate and is all set to welcome fans and cinephiles to the theatres after months of anticipation. Despite the unexpected delays, the buzz and craze around the film remain intact.
Jana Nayagan Release Date Revealed, CM Joseph Vijay’s Last Film to Arrive on July 23
Jana Nayagan is the final screen appearance of Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, who retired from acting in 2024 to enter politics. On May 9, 2026, he was sworn in as Chief Minister of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The makers took to their social media handle to announce the release date and share the poster of the film. They wrote, “Tested by fire. Forged by time. Built for history. The tougher the battle. The louder the victory.” CM Vijay also shared the poster of the film, sparking a significant buzz online.
For the unversed, the film was originally positioned for the Makar Sankranti and Pongal holiday corridor, a window Vijay had mined successfully across a career spanning 69 lead roles. Now, after a long waiting period, the film has finally found its way to the theatres.
