Taylor Swift Unveils New Single, I Knew It, I Knew You, for Pixar’s Toy Story 5 Ahead of Its Premiere

Swifties, the countdown has officially come to an end! Taylor Swift has got the cat out of the bag, revealing that her upcoming original single titled ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will drop this coming Friday. No sooner did the pop sensation share the good news than fans and the global audience expressed their excitement. Disney touts the song as a return to country for the crossover superstar. 

Co-written and co-produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff, the song is ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ is available as a limited-edition CD single through her webstore. They will be shipped after the movie hits the theatres on June 19, 2026. Here’s what the superstar has to say.

Toy Story 5 Major Update: Taylor Swift Returns to Country Roots With I Knew It, I Knew You

On Tuesday, Taylor Swift shared a major update about Toy Story 5 with the audience. The upcoming adventures of Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear have clearly become more exciting with Swift’s single. The pop star has recorded a new song called “I Knew It, I Knew You.” 

Taking to her Instagram feed, she wrote, “It’s a *Toy* Story! You knew it! My new original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Disney and @pixar’s @toystory 5 will be yours on June 5th. I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right? You can pre-order now exclusively on my site and catch Toy Story 5 in theaters June 19th.” 

The song marks a return to Taylor Swift’s country roots, blending styles that have defined her record-breaking career as a songwriter and artist. Writer-director Andrew Stanton shared that it’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform the song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate understanding of what the character was going through was undeniable. He further added that the song is deeply connected to Toy Story and instantly feels like it has always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. 

What’s more? The release date for Toy Story 5, June 19, coincides with the anniversary date for Swift’s first single release, Tim McGraw. Fans can’t help but wait for the movie to hit the theatres so that they can witness the magic of the I Knew It, I Knew You on the silver screen.
