Super Subbu Release Date OUT: Sundeep Kishan’s Telugu Comedy Drama to Stream in July on Netflix

Netflix is all geared up for its first-ever Telugu original series to hit the OTT platform. Titled Super Subbu, the film is slated to arrive on July 2, 2026. Helmed by Mallik Ram, it stars Sundeep Kishan, Mithila Palkar, and Murali Sharma in the lead roles. Apart from the leads, the series also features Get Up Srinu, Maanasa Choudhary, Jeevan, Brahmanandam, and more.

Super Subbu revolves around Subramanyam Chillukuri Rao a.k.a. Subbu, an earnest young man whose life flips upside down when he lands a job as a sex education officer in a village called Maakipur. Armed with no experience, a lesson plan, and a calling to educate these villagers, he soon finds himself navigating a whirlwind of curiosity, chaos, and conversations that rarely stay within four walls.

For Subbu, this short-term posting as a sex education officer turns into a life-changing experience. But there’s one question that he needs to answer for himself – is he willing to risk his love, family, and career as he attempts to survive this new normal? To find out, the audience needs to mark their calendars for July 2. The Telugu original series is a delightful comedy with heart, brought to life by endearing characters and the vibrant world of a village, Maakipur.

Director Mallik Ram has strived to tell a fun and ful- of-heart story while also sparking conversations around topics like sex education that feel less taboo. According to him, humour became the best way to do so because laughter instantly breaks the discomfort. He further adds, “The series explores family dynamics, generational gaps, and relationships. Having such a fantastic cast across generations and borders brought so much personality and charm to the world of Maakipur, and we’re excited for audiences across the world to step into this quirky little village on Netflix.” 

On the other hand, Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix, shared that the series holds a refreshing and humorous narrative. Director Mallik Ram has mastered the art of opening conversations around topics such as sex education and consent, grounding viewers in an authentic and hilarious experience. She adds, “As our first Telugu Original Series, Super Subbu brings together everything we look for in a great story – a distinct local voice, themes that resonate far beyond its setting, and warmth and laughs you will remember long after the show is over.”
