Spider-Man: Brand New Day Undergoes CBFC Cuts: Here Are the Changes Made to Get UA+13 Certificate for India

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has received a UA+13 certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification ahead of its much-anticipated release. Headlined by Tom Holland, the action-adventure film is slated to hit theaters on July 30, 2026. As per the CBFC certificate dated July 23, the film has a final approved runtime of 144 minutes and 52 seconds, which is 2 hours, 24 minutes and 52 seconds. 

The censor board has cleared the pathway for its awaited release in India by mentioning 8-second cuts, which included a romantic moment, obscene language, and scenes featuring alcohol.

Featuring Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and others in key roles, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fourth instalment in the Spider-Man film series. The certification document states that the English-language 3D version, with English subtitles, was cleared with a few modifications. It instructed three cuts in total. One edit appeared in the first half, while the other two after the interval.

The censor board has instructed the makers to mute and remove obscene words from both the audio and subtitles at three points in the film. It also instructed them to delete two kissing scenes and include a statutory anti-liquor disclaimer in the film. The total duration of the visual cuts amounts to eight seconds, as the muted dialogues didn’t affect the film’s overall runtime. All in all, the censor board classified the film as UA 13+, meaning that children under 13 may watch the film under parental guidance.
