The animated spin-off Baahubali: The Eternal War, comes after the successful re-release of Baahubali: The Epic, which was a combination of SS Rajamouli ‘s 2015 and 2017 blockbusters Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion.
Helmed by Ishan Shukla, with screenplay contributions from Scott Mosier, lead actor Prabhas marks his return to the franchise by lending his voice to the iconic character of Baahubali. The selection at Annecy is nothing short of a remarkable validation of the project’s creative vision. Popular as one of the world’s most respected platforms for animation, the festival could help position Baahubali: The Eternal War as a landmark in India’s evolving animation industry.
Sharing his excitement, S. S. Rajamouli spoke about his long-standing belief in animation. He stated, “I have always believed animation offers a canvas with no boundaries. It is a rare honor for Indian mainstream cinema that Baahubali: The Eternal War has been selected for the Work in Progress lineup at Annecy 2026. @Shobu_ garu, @_Ishan_Shukla and the whole team is elated to showcase the vision on the world’s most prestigious animation stage. Looking forward!” Nonetheless, fans and the audience are waiting for the saga of Baahubali to shine on the global stage. The 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival will be held from Sunday, June 21, to Saturday, June 27, 2026.
