It is no surprise that Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji has been dominating the box office since its release on Maharashtra Day, May 1, 2026. From the very beginning, this historical drama has gained significant momentum and shows no signs of slowing down. It is now recognized as the second Marathi film to surpass the Rs 100 crore mark.

Bankrolled by his wife Genelia Deshmukh and Jyoti Deshpande under Mumbai Film Company, and presented by Jio Studios, the periodic-action drama boasts a massive star cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan, and Salman Khan in a special appearance. Raja Shivaji has successfully completed its third weekend at the box office and has nailed 5 major milestones. According to industry trade tracker, Sacnilk, the film is performing well even on Day 18. It raked in a net of Rs 1.15 crore by running across 2,165 shows, bringing the total India gross collections to Rs 101.42 crore. Talking about the net collections in India, it has collected Rs 85.70 crore so far.

The film is now hailed as one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Marathi cinema and the only one behind Nagraj Manjule’s romantic masterpiece Sairat. On day 1 of its release, the film opened with Rs 11.35 crore with an occupancy rate of 32.3 percent. In fact, the film has become the highest-grossing Marathi film of Riteish Deshmukh’s career. Not just that, Raja Shivaji has officially surpassed the number with a worldwide gross of Rs 114.75 crore, crowning itself as the number 1 highest-grossing Marathi film ever.

Nonetheless, for actor-director Riteish Deshmukh, Raja Shivaji marks a personal victory as the film hails as the 10th 100-crore grosser of his illustrious career.
