Renowned Tamil Producer K Rajan Passes Away at 85, Not Because of Health Issues But..

The film fraternity is currently in a state of shock after the news of Tamil producer K. Rajan’s sad demise surfaced online. On May 17, 2026, the veteran producer breathed his last at the age of 85 in Chennai. The Tamil personality was renowned for his outspoken speeches and controversial remarks at movie-related gatherings. Reportedly, Rajan took his life by jumping into the Adyar River, following which he was shifted to a nearby hospital. Later, News18 Tamil Nadu confirmed the passing away of the well-known producer.

The reason behind producer K Rajan’s death, however, remains unclear as an investigation is currently underway. Fans and the audience fraternity are expressing grief and disbelief over the tragic loss. His daughter, A. Rajeswari, stated that pending financial dues from filmmakers and health-related issues had caused her father severe distress over the past two years. She further added that he had financed several small-budget films, but many producers did not return the money. Despite repeated attempts to recover the dues, he was later ignored, and his calls went unanswered. As a result, the stress impacted his health. 

On Wednesday, Rajan suffered a heart attack and underwent surgery at Apollo Hospital. A pacemaker was installed, and two days ago, Rajan spoke to his son, K.R. Suresh Rajan, stating he was unable to manage mounting hospital and medical bills, and asked him to contact the debtors to retrieve the money. Sadly, the industry lost a soul, leaving everyone in disbelief.
