The news of his sad demise was confirmed by his wife and author, Cheryl Strayed, with an Instagram post on May 15, 2026. The statement read, “Brian Lindstrom died this morning the way he lived — with gentleness and courage, grace and gratitude for his beautiful life. Our children, Carver and Bobbi, and I held him as he took his last breath and we will hold him forever in our hearts. The only thing more immense than our sorrow that Progressive Supranuclear Palsy took our beloved Brian from us is the endless love we have for him.”

Brian Lindstrom Breathes His Last, Wife Confirms Through a Detailed Statement

Brian Lindstrom has left for the heavenly abode. According to the statement issued by his wife, Lindstrom passed away due to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. As per the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the serious fatal illness is caused by damage to nerve cells in areas of the brain that control thinking and body movements. The rare neurological disease progresses rapidly.

Cheryl expressed her grief on social media, revealing a few details of her husband’s illness and also an apology. She wrote, “I simply cannot do anything but be with my family right now and see to our broken hearts. I ask that you hold us in your thoughts, prayers, light, and love. If it seems emotionally dissonant to see me posting cheerful clips from my podcast each week, now and over the coming several weeks, it is for me too. Those interviews, which I loved doing, were recorded previously, in easier, happier times.”

Reportedly, Cheryl Strayed had also cancelled one of her workshops after her husband’s health issue. The couple got married in 1999 and were blessed with two children. Before Brian, Cheryl was married to Marco Littig from 1988 to 1995. Born on Feb. 12, 1961, Brian Lindstrom will forever live in the hearts of millions worldwide.
