Ramayana chronicles the story of Lord Rama, whose life’s journey has endured for over 5,000 years. The film offers a refreshed perspective, representing the kind of hero the world rarely sees anymore. For the unversed, Rama, revered as Maryada Purushottama, is the highest ideal of human conduct, embodying dignity, compassion, and moral clarity, even in the face of exile, loss, and injustice.

Talking about essaying the role of such a legend, Ranbir Kapoor states, “I don’t think I’m here to represent Rama. I’m here to learn from him. There is a simplicity and purity to him that is very rare; and trying to understand and imbibe that has been a deeply humbling experience.” Moreover, Director Nitesh Tiwari believes that the franchise’s greatness lies in its emotional richness. At its heart, it is not just about good and evil, but about choices, consequences, and the weight of doing what is right. Through a cinematic lens, the theatrical experience allows audiences to witness Rama’s journey closely.

Film-maker Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana: Part 1 is a two-part cinematic event inspired by one of the world’s most enduring epics. Since the beginning of time, the Trinity Gods have ruled the three worlds. First, Brahma, the god who creates; Vishnu, the god who protects; Shiva, the one who transforms. As the realms of heaven and earth edge toward chaos, the Trinity god Vishnu descends to earth in an avatar to restore balance.

Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, India’s A-list acting talent includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Monkey God Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshamana. Opposing the lead actor stands the most formidable, learned, undefeatable, and immortal demon king Ravana. Rocking Star Yash steps into the role of Ravana, making the grand spectacle nothing short of a visual treat.

Last but not least, the film features music by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. The first of a two-part live-action epic is based on the ancient writings of the revered Indian poet, Valmiki, which opens in theatres globally this fall during Diwali 2026.  Meanwhile, Part 2 is currently in production and slated to debut globally during Diwali 2027.
