R Madhavan’s “GDN” has finally hit the theatres on Aug. 7, 2026. Undoubtedly, the biographical drama has struck the right chords and left the audience impressed. Early viewers have called the film an inspiring tale, while some of them have been praising the lead actor’s astounding performance as industrialist Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu. Whether it is a splendid transformation into the legendary figure, a compelling narrative, or a gripping plot, the makers have done it all and left no crumbs. 

The biopic has introduced fans and cinephiles to a lesser-known figure who built the UMS bus empire, developed India’s first indigenous electric motor, and faced several challenges during the colonial era. The saga kicks off with a textbook committee discussing whether GD Naidu deserves a place in school history books. The scene establishes the movie’s central idea, focusing on the remarkable personality whose contributions remain unfamiliar to the majority of people. After watching the film on the first day, first show, here’s what the audience has to say on X (formerly Twitter).
