On Tuesday, March 17, the makers of Nivin Pauly’s Prathichaya unveiled an intriguing poster announcing the release date of the political thriller drama. Alongside Nivin Pauly, the Malayalam political thriller also stars Balachandra Menon and Sharafudheen in lead roles. Directed by B Unnikrishnan, the drama will be released on March 26, 2026, just weeks before Mohanlal’s much-anticipated thriller Drishyam 3, scheduled on April 2. Not just that, the film will also be locking horns with Jayasurya’s Aadu 3, which will be released on March 19, and Sagar Surya, Johny Antony, and Abu Salim’s Derby, scheduled to premiere the next day on March 27.

Set against the backdrop of Kerala politics, the drama promises a sharp look at power, perception, and the fragile balance behind cabinet formation. Here’s a closer glimpse at the freshly released poster.

Prathichaya is based on the state politics, focusing on the two major parties. Veteran actor Balachandra Menon is expected to play an astute leader and the Chief Minister of the state, while Nivin Pauly’s character will be seen as his confidante. Actor Sharaf U Dheen will be seen in the villainous role, opposite Pauly.

This morning, Nivin Pauly took to his social media handle and dropped a fresh poster, announcing the film’s release date. The post’s caption read, “A father’s legacy. A son’s destiny. #Prathichaya arrives in cinemas on March 26. Written & Directed by Unnikrishnan B. Produced by Sree Gokulam Movies & RD Illuminations LLP.” Three weeks ago, the makers dropped the film’s trailer. It showed that the film delves into the happenings during the reign of a former Chief Minister and the role of a fictionalised corporate honcho. On March 26, fans and movie buffs will get to witness the political drama on the silver screen.
