Prahaar Trailer OUT: Rajkummar Rao Shines as Ujjwal Nikam in Legal Drama on Ajmal Kasab’s Trial

After months of anticipation, the makers of “Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam” finally unveiled a captivating trailer. Starring Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam and Lalit Prabhakar as Kasab, the film is scheduled to hit the theatres on Oct. 16. Based on the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai, the film is a gripping courtroom drama surrounding Ajmal Kasab’s trial. In a nutshell, the 3-minute-5-second trailer takes the audience through the legal proceedings through the eyes of advocate Ujjwal Nikam, the public prosecutor who represented the state in the trial against Kasab.

Prahaar Trailer Unveiled: What to Expect?

On Tuesday, the makers of “ Prahaar” gave a glimpse of the courtroom drama based on one of the most high-profile cases of Ujjwal Nikam’s career. Helmed by Avinash Arun, the film focuses on what unfolded in the courtroom. 

The trailer dives deeper into the journey of Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam, a middle-aged lawyer whose life and pursuit of justice inspired the film. In the aftermath of the 26/11 attacks, Ujjwal serves as the public prosecutor against Ajmal Kasab, the key accused in the terrorist attack. With an aim to quench public’s thirst for revenge and playing his role as the representative of the Indian Constitution and its fairness, Ujjwal single-mindedly focused on bringing justice to the most closely watched legal battle of the nation. 

Besides Rao, the film also boasts a stellar cast including Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher, who essay the roles of the opposing lawyers, while Wamiqa Gabbi plays Ujjwal’s wife. The supporting cast includes Ashish Vidyarthi, Lalit Prabhakar, and Ritvik Sahore. Set to release in theatres on Oct. 16, the film will be locking horns with Vijay and Rashmika’s “Ranabali” and Yami Gautam’s “Nayyi Navelli.”
