Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 Release Postponed: Georgekutty to Return to Theatres on Actor’s Birthday

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3, scheduled for an April release, has been pushed to May, aligning with the lead actor’s birthday. On March 23, 2026, the Malayalam superstar took to his official social media handles to announce the postponement of the much-awaited film. Bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, Mohanlal reprises his iconic role of Georgekutty, who will now return to theatres on the actor’s birthday, May 21, 2026. 

Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film was earlier expected to be released on April 2. It wrapped its shoot in December last year. The team’s wrap-up celebration video also went viral.

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 Locks New Release Date

Ahead of Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3, Mohanlal’s film is all geared up to arrive in theatres on May 21, 2026. Sharing the update on X, Mohanlal wrote, “The past never stays silent… it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21, 2026. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release.”  Surprisingly, the new release date coincides with the actor’s birthday. Alongside Mohanlal, the film also features Meena as Rani George, Ansiba Hassan as Anju George, Esther Anil as Anumol “Anu” George, Asha Sharath as Geetha Prabhakar, Siddique as Prabhakar, Murali Gopy as IG Thomas Bastin IPS, and K. B. Ganesh Kumar as CI Philip Mathew.

According to reports, the makers are said to have reconsidered the timeline amid rising tensions in the Gulf region. The third installment of the much-loved Drishyam franchise is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. For context, Drishyam was released in 2013 and became a landmark film in Malayalam cinema. Its sequel followed in 2021, further cementing the franchise’s popularity. Now, fans await to know what’s more in store for them. On the other hand, Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 (Hindi) is set to arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2026.
