Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra Release Date OUT: Kareena Kapoor, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Thriller to Hit Theatres in September

The release date of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Daayra has finally been unveiled, leaving fans incredibly excited for what’s coming their way. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the thriller drama is all geared up to hit the theatrical screens on September 18, 2026. Alongside the release date, the makers also shared a brief BTS video from the shoot, featuring the lead actors essaying the roles of police officers. Not to forget, the tagline of the film reads, “Some lines are drawn. Some lines are crossed. A choice awaits.”

On June 18, 2026, the makers took to their official social media timelines to announce the release date of Daayra. Sharing a behind-the-scenes clip, Kareen Kapoor Khan wrote, “This one is for the books…Raw and unseen. A sneak peek behind the scenes of DAAYRA. #Daayra arrives in cinemas on 18th September (sic).” The sneak peek features the lead actors portraying the characters of police inspectors. Additionally, police vehicles, crowded outdoor sets, night shoots, action, and chase sequences drop hints of everything that viewers can expect. 

Penned by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal, and Meghna Gulzaar, the film taps into the themes of crime, justice, and punishment. The thrilling drama focuses on the blurred lines of morality within a tense investigative framework. Rightly said, the makers have described the film as a story that needed to be told now more than ever.

Inspired by true events, the film is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of the year. For the unversed, the film marks the first collaboration of the B-town actress along with Malayalam superstar Prithviraj. After critically acclaimed films Talvar and Raazi, Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra has skyrocketed expectations.
